Posted on August 6, 2020 by Leo Candy

MLA Format (Microformats) is the most commonly used format for academic writing, though there are other formats that also exist. The MLA format is designed to make it easy to read an essay, especially one with lots of information, at a glance. In fact, many instructors actually recommend the use of the MLA format to help new students, and it should be a standard part of your dissertation and thesis editing. The most important aspects of this format are the three sections that make up the essay, as well as how you arrange these sections.

In MLA format, the essay usually consists of three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. Each section follows a specific pattern to help keep it organized and easier to read. Each paragraph also has to follow a different format; for example, first paragraph, third paragraph, and the last paragraph.

Introduction is the first paragraph of the article and is usually quite long. The author’s name, title of the article, date of publication, and a brief explanation of the purpose of the article are all considering an introduction. The author’s name, and a brief explanation of the purpose of the article, are also considering a title.

Body is the second paragraph of the article. It is usually two or three sentences long, describing the main point of the article, and is followed by a couple of paragraphs about supporting information. When writing an essay, it is important to write only about three paragraphs at most.

The conclusion is the last paragraph of the article. It is usually just a single sentence containing an explanation of the main point of the article, and concluding with a few recommendations for further reading. If there is a need to write more than one paragraph at a time, it should be placed in the last paragraph of the article, but it can be written in any paragraph that needs to be.

In order to be more comfortable with MLA format, practice on paper first. If the paper requires more than one assignment, it is best to prepare multiple copies of each piece, so that you can check for punctuation errors and adjust the format of your articles to accommodate any formatting problems that may crop up.

There are some exceptions to the rule that MLA format is recommended for every article. Some newspapers use a different style of format and use their own format for their articles. While MLA does have a lot of merit in the field of scholarship, in academic writing, you may find that it is more appropriate to use another style, if you cannot follow the strict rules of MLA style.
